I thought I would keep this post short & sweet. Here is a little "Macaron" trivia.


Did you know?...


-The French spelling is "macaron" & the English version is "macaroon".
-These delightful sweet confections are meringue-based & consist of the main ingredient, almond paste.
-Macarons are filled with jam, ganache or buttercream.
-The traditional flavors are raspberry and chocolate.
-Ladurée, a Parisienne patisserie, invented the "double decker" macaron in 1930.
-Ladurée sells 15,000 macarons every day.
-Queen Catherine de Medici brought the macaron from Italy to France in the 16th century.
-Food coloring is used to tint the macarons.
-Ladurée produced all of the macarons for the film, "Marie Antoinette", directed by Sophia Coppola.
-Ladurée is now open in New York City on Madison Ave.
