Do you have a tired space that needs a little design pick-me-up? Not sure where to turn for inspiration? Think chairs! Chairs can serve 2 purposes, form & function. Select a real show-stopper as your lead & your space can quickly evolve!
I am infatuated with chairs & when I'm out and about shopping for clients, it never fails that I stumble upon a spectacular piece for my own space. My dilemma...where do I put yet another chair? I recently found an incredible cane wing back...with my wheels turning, I visually painted it in another hue & had recovered the seat with a decadent fabric. Voila!
Your chair can drive your inspiration thru use of color, pattern, and/or style. Make it a conversation piece & let the room follow the lead!
Have you designed a space around a chair? Please do tell!
XOXO~
Modern Cupcake
great idea! I dont have much room for chairs, especially with my 2 year old wanting to climb on everything! I do love to see before and after pics, though, of old chair brought to life with some paint and new fabric...that striped chair you show is really eye-catching!

Modern Cupcake - So ... next time you're chair shopping and see a to.die.for piece, do think of me (you know, since you don't need anymore)! :) In all seriousness, great idea and beautiful pictures!

Thank you, Sara!! I will let you know if I find something! ;)
ReplyDeleteLove it! I am currently on the hunt for an amazing chair for my office. My husband and I have VERY different styles. He made me give in to a hanging huge photograph of Aguille du Midi in the French Alps. I decided the office was the only space I could give up. This picture is now the main focal point of our office. The color scheme is royal blue, white, and black. Any suggestions? I was thinking about softening it up with a multicolored big, bold, graphic floral?!
ReplyDeleteJulie,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment! I think you are on to something! I view photography as it's own entity. Virtually any space can accommodate a piece of photography. Don't take the photography so literally.
I would incorporate a bold graphic somewhere in the space. Here are a couple scenarios for your space...yes, a bold graphic chair would work well or use a bold graphic rug such as the one in the link & then a vibrant solid color chair.
